Here I'm, again, to share some of the cosmetics/skincare products which I've tried and like to use. However, I'd like to stress that not every product suits everyone. It's good you know your skin well and which type of product suits you. It's even better if you know how to read the ingredients.
1) Dior Addict Lip GlowI know this product through a colleague. One day I saw her using and immediately I was attracted by the packaging. Funny enough, this colleague started to use it after seeing another colleague of mine using it. Subsequently, others who saw me using also asked me about it and bought it!
It's a lip gloss that responds to the color chemistry of your lips to create a colour that's all your own. In other words, different people will appear with different lip colour. Your lips will appear more red if you apply a few times. It also comes with SPF 10 to protect your lips from sun.
Why I like it is because I can apply without looking at the mirror. So it comes in handy when I need to reapply my lipstick when I'm on the go. Moreover, I've always prefered lip gloss than a lipstick. My verdict: convenient, moisturising, no need to worry about smudging and yet it adds a light colour to your lips.
2) Rimmel Mascara Remover
A mascara remover containing oil-based cleansing agents like Camellia Oil and Amino Acid derivatives that easily removes waterproof mascara.
For me, I first apply the formula to the lashes from roots to tips (it's a mascara-like applicator). After the formula has sat for two minutes, I then wiped off gently with a cotton pad soaked with another eye makeup remover (I'm using Bobbi Brown at the moment, which is quite good). It seems like a double work but it's rather dry to use a dry cotton pad to wipe off the mascara just like that. It may damage the lashes. You must be wondering, why not just use the conventional one? In fact, this way I find it easier to wipe the mascara off while minimising damage to my lashes.
I know you are supposed to apply the soaked cotton pad to your lashes and wait for few minutes to let the mascara melt before wiping it off. I don't have that patience and so I prefer this Rimmel unique formula before the conventional one.
So far Sothys Normalising Milk Cleanser is the best face makeup remover I've used. I've tried using Clarins Cleansing Milk but it doesn't work that effectively. I've tried Shu Uemura cleansing oil and other similar ones but they will only cause breakouts (probably too oily).
Later I decided to give this Hada Labo Cleansing Oil a try for 3 reasons: it's not too expensive; it's using olive oil (I notice most cleansing oil in the market is using mineral oil instead); it doesn't have unfavourable ingredients such as fragrance. After 2nd day of using it, I saw some minor breakouts. Initially I wanted to give up but somehow or rather I decided to continue using it while controlling the minor breakouts with Clean n Clear pimple gel, hoping that my skin will get used to it.
Now, one week has passed and my skin is okay. My initial breakouts were gone the following day after the pimple gel. As I believe that cleansing oil cleanses better than other forms, I will continue using it. Fingers crossed~
However, I will always double cleanse and now I'm using Hado Labo Arbutin Whitening Face Wash, which is quite good, slightly drying to the skin but it's alright. Now I'm liking Hada Labo range which is gentle and will consider switching my toner to Hada Labo's once I finish the existing Sothys'. For cleansing range, it's okay to use cheaper range.
4) Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Mineral
Primer serves as a barrier before your foundation. For me, I use primer because I believe it shields your skin from foundation, be it liquid or powder, and it makes your makeup more long lasting.
Before this I was using Shu Uemura makeup base in mousse, which is quite good and now I like this even more.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer comes in 4 variations. The original one, according to the sales person, is the first of its kind in cosmetic industry. I bought the mineral one because I'm using mineral powder from Laura Mercier, and so it works best with this primer. True enough, I realised my foundation is more natural and lasts longer. Also, it's lightweight and it controls oil and make your face less oily. Another good reason to choose this primer over others: it comes with minimum ingredients.
5) Laura Mercier Mineral Powder
I've tried it quite some time ago and now I'm using it again!
What's so good about this product? First of all, as the name suggests, it's made of mineral powder, which is more gentle to the skin and has not much ingredients in it other than mineral powder. It's less likely to block pores. It gives you a natural and yet glowing finish. This is all I used after the primer.
Perhaps the only downfall is you have to apply with a face brush and the powder is so light that some flies off when you are pouring it out. Price could be a deterring factor as well.
6) Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask
This is the only product I've never quit using since the beginning. I think I'm now using the 3rd tube already. It's my weekly routine for rehydration as well as to prepare my skin for extraction later. It's really moisturising and can even be applied to the lips and eye area. All you need is to apply to the whole face and wait for about 5-10 minutes before washing it off.
So, these are the products which I'm currently using and love using it! Will share again if I come across more~
